August 27, 2014 Wednesday- the Science Education Students were having an educational tour in SM Lanang Science Center. The educational tour was initiated by Dr. Juselyn Hiponia with the collaboration of Ms. Griechel Librado, wherein during the duration of the activity takes her role as class mayor to supervised her classmates and of science education students. In accordance, the purpose of the tour is to let the students explore in their own the concepts of science and observe the technology used. The tour is aligned with the course and objectives of the program. The students were asked to take documents about their observations with regards to the technology, scientific concepts, themes, etc. in the exhibits during the tour and asked to make a reflection paper after the activity. Many activities were done from the tour. The science students really enjoy every activity in every gallery. Students were very motivated to answer questions and participate thoroughly in the activity not because of reward but because they want to acquire knowledge and learning. Some of them were amaze in the planetarium in the reason that according to them it is their first time to encounter that kind of effects of technology or the technology itself (stellar cartography). The presentation at the planetarium according to them is really amazing not only amazement that enveloped them but also the desire for learning wherein the technology expanded their knowledge wherein the presentation of concepts and ideas about the planets and other heavenly bodies seemed to be true. Like they feel that they explore the universe through the Technics used. During the exploration in the galleries many models were encountered by them. It is commonly believe that models act like a substitute of the real thing. Still they learned something from the tour in the gallery.
Additional information: The SM Lanang Center still continues to innovate their technology as they want to add concepts and exhibition like improving their gallery " How will you age" next month. .
